Compare the Ares Speed and Ocean Assassin rods for saltwater vertical jigging. Both are one-piece models with separate spinning and casting configurations, but their lengths, jig guidance and components differ.

      Ares Speed or Ocean Assassin?

      • Ares Speed Jigging Rod: approximately 168cm, PE3–6 line guidance and a suggested maximum jig weight of 500g, with FUJI guides and reel seat.
      • Ocean Assassin Jigging Rod: approximately 193cm, MH power, Fast action, PE3–6 and a recommended 200–650g jig range, with titanium-frame SiC guides and a FUJI #20 reel seat.

Choose for your reel and transport space

Select the spinning version for a compatible spinning reel or the casting version for a compatible overhead reel. Allow space for the full one-piece rod length when planning storage and transport.

The Ares maximum and Ocean Assassin recommended range are different kinds of rating, not equivalent performance measurements. Choose the jig for the conditions within the individual model's guidance; these figures do not establish casting allowances or fish-lifting limits. For other jigging presentations, explore slow pitch jigging rods and light jigging rods.
