GOOFISH® Cinderbend 702 Crankbait Casting Rod
Description
Product details
The GOOFISH® Cinderbend 702 is a proposed two-piece crankbait casting rod for freshwater lure fishing. Its 2.13 m design pairs a Moderate-action glass/carbon-composite blank concept with a continuous EVA rear grip and a trigger casting reel seat. Choose the separately developed 702M target for 7–21 g fully rigged lures or 702MH for 14–42 g, then Moss Ember or Clay Oxblood.
Design-stage disclosure: This is a development brief, not tested production stock. All rod ratings, dimensions, construction details and numerical acceptance thresholds below are proposed requirements pending engineering approval and samples. Generated images are concept illustrations, not stock photographs, exact FUJI component drawings or manufacturing instructions. No achieved strength, casting distance, hook-retention improvement or sensitivity claim is assigned.
Annotated rod specification and finish drawings
Photographic-style design concepts, not actual sample photographs. Dimensions, component candidates and color references are marked on the images and explained in the written brief. The complete-rod view shows the casting orientation and overall styling only; its simplified guide count and proportions are not a spacing chart or scaled drawing. The trial BOM remains nine guides plus a tip-top, pending physical layout evaluation.

Why Cinderbend is a different rod
Cinderbend combines an ember-like accent palette with a progressive bending goal for working crankbaits. The 702 family denotes approximately seven feet and two sections; 2130 mm is the controlling metric length. It is not a renamed Fast-action bottom-fishing rod or an offshore blank with new paint.
The proposed differences are functional and visual: Moderate rather than Fast action, a supplier-developed glass/carbon-composite taper, a full continuous rear grip rather than split EVA, and a small offset corner-block identity instead of coastal contours. Two earthy palettes replace the blue/gold and white/navy direction used on recent GOOFISH concepts.
The design aims to maintain a usable loaded response during a steady retrieve and changing fish pressure. It does not guarantee that treble hooks will remain attached. Hooks, line stretch, drag, lure resistance and handling still matter. Moderate does not mean a weak blank, and Medium Power is not the same thing as Moderate Action.

Two distinct taper developments are required. The overlapping lure ranges do not make the M and MH identical, and the colors do not change their specifications. Lure mass includes hooks, rings and added hardware. The 42 g MH endpoint is not a permission to use a high-resistance deep diver at that mass without retrieve-load trials. Large cupped poppers, oversized swimbaits, heavy cover extraction and pitching heavy sinker rigs are outside this brief.
The line values are nominal mono class targets, not measured line-breaking strengths or recommended drag settings. Do not substitute braid pound-test one-for-one or publish a PE conversion without actual diameter and knot evaluation. Abrasion, leader choice, hook hardware and retrieve resistance can govern selection before lure mass does.
Action, Power and the composite blank
Power describes resistance to deflection. Action describes the distribution of bending under a defined load and support arrangement. The intended Moderate response recruits a meaningful part of the middle under working load instead of relying only on a rapidly bending tip. It must still preserve progressive butt support. Do not describe it as an exact 5:5 curve or uniform parabolic shape without a defined measurement.
Propose a supplier-engineered glass/carbon-composite blank, with each material's placement and proportion to be established through layup development. Do not claim S-glass, E-glass grade, carbon tonnage, nanomaterials or a particular percentage before the supplier confirms and tests it. Glass content alone does not establish Action or Power. No Solid Nano construction is assumed from other GOOFISH models.
Record load-deflection curves for both tapers using the same support geometry and reference loads. Evaluate casting load progression, retrieve behavior and fish-pressure transitions separately. Recovery and damping are separate measurements; Moderate Action is not a measured recovery time, nor must a crankbait blank automatically be described as slow to recover.
Eight-component dimensional and engineering brief

01–02 procurement and engineering targets: Tip-top candidate FUJI BCMNAT size8; tube bore remains unassigned until finished-tip measurement. Lower/belly guides start with BCKWAG12/10/8 plus8 ×2; upper runners BCKTAG8 ×4. Final stations require loaded-line-path evaluation. Do not mistake nominal ring size for measured clear aperture, or this close-up for a scaled spacing diagram.
01 Tip and tip-top
Develop the upper laminate and finished tip diameter separately for M and MH. Match the genuine tip-top tube to the measured finished tip after coating and process allowances are resolved. Do not thin structural fibers to fit a predetermined tube. Check ring edges, tube engagement, adhesive process, alignment and tang-wrap installation. Numerical tip diameter remains pending engineering, not inferred from a rendering.
02 Guides and line path
Use the initial FUJI guide candidates below as a trial train, all above the blank in this straight-top casting layout. Establish the reel, levelwind and handle first, temporarily position guides and evaluate the actual blank bend. Reject damaging line rub, severe local line angles or uncontrolled twist. A casting train needs bend-following stations, not a spinning-rod reduction layout copied by appearance.
Review size-8 runner mass and frame height against the composite tip's dynamic behavior. The initial ring sizes prioritize a practical line/knot trial, not a claim of optimized sensitivity. Adjust count, size and spacing if tests require. No foot or wrap may bridge the removable joint. Use controlled finish thickness rather than decorative heavy resin sleeves.

03–04 dimensional controls: Assembled length2130 mm target. The upper section has a composite female socket that fits over the lower-section male end. Structural socket bore, male OD, engagement length, wall schedule and tolerances are deliberately pending blank engineering. Approve continuity under bending, repeat assembly, seating and loosening. A thin visible shoulder is not an instruction to machine the blank flush. No decorative metal sleeve or cap is specified at the ferrule.
03 Composite taper and central transition
Target 2130 mm assembled length and separately tuned M and MH load-deflection behavior. Control glass/carbon transitions, fiber alignment, resin, wall thickness and cure; avoid a short stiffness step at a material change. Do not chase a proof number by making a short tip excessively stiff and then label it Moderate.
The central joint is particularly important because a Moderate-action target asks the middle to participate. Verify that the joint does not create a rigid bridge or local hinge. Structural diameters, wall schedules, tolerances and material proportions require supplier analysis and approved drawings.
04 Two-section put-over connection
Propose upper-over-lower put-over construction. Engineer engagement, local reinforcement, fit, wear and seating individually for each taper. A spigot gap rule is not a put-over specification, and a flush-looking concept does not mandate zero visible gap. Set the final section cuts and engagement together; do not report 2130 divided by two as packed length.
Validate repeat assembly, loosening under repeated retrieve cycles, bending continuity and removal. Add a tiny alignment tick and separate section numbers. Measure whether the no-more-than-1130 mm packed-length goal is achieved before creating shipping or luggage claims.

05–06 targets: Foregrip20 mm axial, maximum OD24 mm(M) or25 mm(MH). Seat candidates ECSM12BC bore12.0 mm(M) and ECSM125BC bore12.5 mm(MH); catalog shaped OD entry18/27 mm, body length110.5 mm. Seat-body-midpoint datum330/350 mm from butt for M/MH. Confirm genuine component drawings, reel-foot capture, thread travel, blank exposure and actual taper fit before manufacturing.
05 Short foregrip
Initial EVA foregrip targets are 20 mm axial length, maximum OD24 mm for M or25 mm for MH. Keep access to the seat hood and nut, evaluate the palm position with the actual reel and preserve clearance during winding. A short foregrip is a contact surface, not a lifting handle.
06 Casting seat and hand-contact region
Start with FUJI ECSM12BC for M and ECSM125BC for MH, subject to genuine component and blank-fit confirmation. Initial seat-body-midpoint-to-butt datums are330 mm and350 mm respectively. These are manufacturing reference points, not measured reel-foot centers.
Develop full-foot support, trigger comfort, hood engagement, nut travel and exposed-blank contact against an actual reel. Do not assume the seat bore equals the diameter of the blank at its butt. ECSM exposed-contact geometry must match the actual seat-region taper; generic thick arbors are not an automatic solution. Do not grind the blank or machine genuine seat hardware to force a fit.

07–08 targets: Rear EVA260 mm length/max OD26 mm(M),280/max OD27 mm(MH). Butt cap max OD28 mm(M)/29 mm(MH),18 mm axial target; decorative silver rim no more than1.5 mm visible axial width. No exposed-blank split gap. Approve foam density, firmness, shallow flute depth, wet/dry hand feel, bond and edge safety using physical samples.
07 Continuous rear EVA
Replace split-grip styling with one continuous shaped EVA rear grip, targeting260 ×26 mm length/maximum OD for M and280 ×27 mm for MH. No exposed-blank split gap is intended between rear EVA and seat. Resolve seat underlap, end-cap engagement and transition trim as one dimensional chain rather than adding independent nominal lengths.
Propose shallow longitudinal flutes within the foam only. They are tactile visual features, not tested slip-resistant technology. Approve density, firmness, compression recovery and bond quality from actual shaped samples. Evaluate two-handed casting, wrist clearance, lower-hand reach and balance with the intended reel. Do not copy another manufacturer's patented grip cross-section.
08 Butt cap and tiny trim

Tail-end brand artwork targets: Place the approved GOOFISH vector wordmark horizontally centered on the flat butt-cap end face, not on the EVA. Target maximum wordmark envelope16 ×2.5 mm inside a20 mm diameter artwork zone. Use PANTONE7527 C ivory appearance reference for the wordmark on both finishes. Add a small asymmetric corner and offset-square below the wordmark, PANTONE7572 C for Moss Ember or490 C for Clay Oxblood. Proposed accent envelope3 ×3 mm and minimum wordmark-to-accent separation1.5 mm; confirm legibility and actual clearances on the molded face. Do not distort the approved brand proportions or invent an official fish emblem.
Tail branding process and approval: Propose a recessed flat molded face with pad-printed brand artwork, not a bulky metal medallion. Recess depth, ink system, surface treatment and artwork tolerances remain supplier/engineer decisions. Verify adhesion, abrasion, cleaning compatibility, color and edge safety on actual cap material; no durability result is claimed. Keep decorative trim nonstructural, with the existing maximum1.5 mm visible axial-width target. Do not engrave or heat-stamp structural blank fibers or use the EVA foam as the print surface. The dedicated branded-cap detail governs the new end-face artwork where earlier overall styling lacks that small detail.
Start with a flat-rounded charcoal cap envelope of28 ×18 mm maximum OD/axial length for M or29 ×18 mm for MH. Use the centered GOOFISH wordmark and secondary corner/square accent specified above; no large metal badge. Decorative trim targets no more than1.5 mm visible axial width and remains nonstructural. Approve edge safety, adhesion and cap retention. No gimbal, waterproof seal or fish-lifting function is assigned.
FUJI candidate bill of materials
The following catalog identities are researched component candidates, not a confirmed installed BOM. Confirm current exact ordering codes, genuine sourcing and availability with the supplier before sampling.
| Position | Candidate | Fit and layout checks |
|---|---|---|
| Three lower casting guides | FUJI BCKWAG Alconite, frosted dark-grey Corrosion Control frames; nominal12,10,8, one each | Verify reel exit, actual guide heights and low casting-line path; do not apply spinning KR reduction assumptions. |
| Two belly guides | FUJI BCKWAG size8 ×2 | Locate through static load-path evaluation, clear of joint engagement. |
| Four upper runners | FUJI BCKTAG Alconite, nominal size8 ×4 | Check total tip mass, damping, line clearance and actual knot passage. |
| Tip-top | FUJI BCMNAT Alconite, nominal ring size8 | Tube bore deliberately unassigned pending finished-tip measurement and an available catalog combination. |
| M casting seat | FUJI ECSM12BC, size-16 family, nominal bore12.0 mm | Catalog OD entry18/27 mm and body length110.5 mm. These describe a shaped seat, not a cylindrical blank diameter. |
| MH casting seat | FUJI ECSM125BC, size-16 family, nominal bore12.5 mm | Catalog OD entry18/27 mm and body length110.5 mm. Verify this separate bore on the MH sample. |
The starting proposal is nine guides plus one tip-top. It is not a finished spacing chart or a strength guarantee. Size-16 seat family does not mean a16 mm bore, and nominal ring size does not mean clear ring diameter. Exact supplied suffixes and finish must be recorded. Keep all genuine factory finishes; do not paint rings, feet, tip tubes, threads or trigger to match the rod artwork.
Component references
Minimum pulling-force requirements: internal proof targets only
Proposed minimum static line-tension proof gates are20 N for M and30 N for MH, approximately2.04 and3.06 kgf. These are deliberately chosen development targets for this concept, not certified standards or measured results. They are not carbon-fiber tensile strength, ultimate breaking force, working drag, lifting weight or a fish-size limit. Power labels alone do not establish these numbers.
Before any run, a qualified engineer must review the blank, proposed thresholds and fixture drawing. Use guarded equipment, a calibrated inline load cell, suitable test line and controlled remote loading. Do not hand-bend a tip or hang household weights. Keep people outside the stored-energy and line-failure path.
- Support geometry: Define butt-end x=0 and the original unloaded butt axis toward the tip as +X. Proposed rear support center is x=100 mm; front support reference is the seat-body midpoint at x=330 mm for M or350 mm for MH. Use an approved padded hand-load saddle and representative reel-foot fixture. Do not hard-clamp bare carbon, the seat window or the trigger. Engineer and document the final fixture compliance, dimensions and mounting.
- Line path and force direction: Run test line from the locked representative reel fixture through all guides and tip-top. Measure outgoing line tension and control its force vector at45 degrees downward from the original +X butt-axis direction in the guide plane as the tip deflects. The direction is not a tip-tangent angle or an undefined angle to the floor. A direction-controlled moving actuator may be required.
- Proposed loading sequence: Apply2 N preload after controlled seating, then ramp smoothly at5 N/s to20 N for M or30 N for MH. Hold10 seconds, unload gradually, rest60 seconds and repeat for three cycles. Snatch, impact and bouncing loads are not equivalent.
- Proposed pass criteria: No fracture, delamination, cracking sound, guide or insert damage, wrap cracking, seat slip or joint loosening. Proposed cumulative joint axial movement limit is0.5 mm from the marked seated baseline. After10 minutes unloaded recovery, proposed residual tip-position change is no more than3 mm from the same-fixture baseline. These thresholds require engineer approval before testing; they are not stated as industry-wide criteria.
- Stop, record and screen: Stop at damage signs, a local hinge, damaging line contact or uncontrolled twist. Record actual force-time history, direction, supports, fixture, line, joint engagement and before/after condition. A proposed minimum of three independently built samples per taper must pass the approved method as a development screen; production sampling and confidence requirements are separate.
A passed static gate would still not establish fatigue life, impact resistance, casting durability, coating flex life or a consumer drag setting. Define repeated-cast and retrieve-load cycling, joint endurance and controlled torsion evaluation separately. Do not calculate customer working drag by applying an invented fraction or safety factor to20/30 N. No older GOOFISH model inherits these values.
GOOFISH corner-block identity and color placement
Place a small GOOFISH wordmark and Cinderbend702M or702MH identifier on the lower blank. Pair it with one short asymmetric L-shaped corner bar and a tiny offset square. Avoid coastlines, wave maps, three parallel shoreline lines, camouflage and large gold sleeves. Keep the upper blank restrained, with narrow wrap borders and separate joint alignment marks.
This is a distinct direction within the proposed GOOFISH range, not a verified market-exclusivity or trademark claim. Use approved vector artwork and physical placement masters for production, not generated lettering.

5743 C,7530 C,7527 C,7572 C and490 C are Solid Coated graphics references.877 C is a Metallics Coated reference. They are appearance sampling references, not paint, plating, anodizing or foam recipes. Renders are not PANTONE-certified matches.
Matte coating samples
Approve cured samples on the actual composite blank substrate with primer, clearcoat and texture. Compare physical hue, coverage and sheen under agreed lighting. Keep olive visibly green rather than neutral charcoal, and clay warm rather than mist-white. Compare wrap thread under cured finish; evaluate adhesion, rubbing and flexibility. Set process-specific color/gloss limits after approving real masters.
Metal trim samples
Approve actual satin-silver trim against the intended appearance, with a proposed maximum1.5 mm visible width and no mirror-gold substitutions. A metallic paper chip and a real finished metal part will not necessarily match identically. Approve actual material, finish, edge safety and retention. Keep trim nonstructural and clear of joint and guide-foot zones. Do not modify genuine FUJI components to obtain a decorative color.
EVA samples
Approve the full continuous rear grip's actual foam density, firmness, recovery, shape and shallow flute depth. Flutes must remain within the foam and not expose or cut structural blank. Evaluate wet/dry comfort, bonded interfaces, cleaning and repeated hand use. Retain the shaped material as the master; a screen render does not prove color, grip performance or durability.
Fish, methods and environments
The primary proposed use is freshwater crankbait fishing for appropriately sized largemouth and smallmouth bass. Walleye and larger perch can be secondary applications when lure, line, cover and landing plan suit the complete outfit. A species name is not a strength or drag rating. The M addresses lighter crankbaits within its target range; the MH addresses heavier lures and resistance only after retrieve trials confirm suitability.
Candidate methods are steady retrieves, controlled pauses and small speed changes with compatible shallow-to-mid diving crankbaits, squarebills and suitable lipless lures. Depth labels are lure-dependent; no fixed running depth is assigned to the rod. A light, high-drag plug can work the blank harder than a compact lure of greater mass. Test this independently from casting weight.
Focus on freshwater lakes, reservoirs and gentle river sections with open banks or stable boat decks and practical landing access. Dense vegetation, heavy timber, frogs, heavy single-hook pitching, oversized swimbaits, large musky and saltwater offshore work are not the design focus. Moderate action is not a substitute for choosing appropriate hooks, line and drag. Avoid high-sticking and lift fish with suitable landing equipment, not the rod.
Choose the configuration
- Weigh the lure with hooks and hardware. Compare with the M7–21 g or MH14–42 g target after samples validate both endpoints.
- Consider retrieve resistance, hook type and cover separately from mass. Do not choose solely by fish size.
- Check actual line diameter, knot, reel foot, spool behavior and balance. Mono-pound class is not an automatic braid or PE conversion, and a generic baitcaster size is not proof of fit.
- Check the continuous-grip reach and actual packed section. Seat datums and the1130 mm packed-length goal remain unmeasured.
- Choose Moss Ember or Clay Oxblood. Finish does not change the taper, lure range or untested proof target.
Contents, care and production release
Proposed contents are one two-section rod in the selected specification and finish, plus a simple separated-section cloth sock after fit approval. Reel, line, lures, hooks, landing equipment and hard travel tube are not included. No extra tip is implied.
Clean gently, inspect rings, wraps and joint surfaces and dry sections before storage. Use the approved engagement method, recheck the joint during use and protect the tip in transport. Never verify strength by lifting fish or bending the tip by hand.
Release only after approving supplier drawings and material schedule, genuine FUJI codes, actual fit and guide stations. Measure assembled/packed lengths, finished mass, balance, structural diameters and handle dimensions. Validate Moderate action, Power, lure casting and retrieve behavior separately for M and MH, then execute an engineer-approved proof and durability program. Confirm actual costs, shipping mass/dimensions and final buyer working limits before sale. No performance or profit guarantee is assigned to this proposal.
