GOOFISH Driftfold 8 jig roll bag concept in Petrol Graphite and Mist Aubergine

Appearance visualization only: pocket proportions and strap attachment are simplified; use the written eight-pocket specification for development.

The GOOFISH® Driftfold 8 jig roll bag is a proposed eight-pocket organizer for carrying metal jigs to a boat or shoreline session. Choose the 220 Standard or 320 Long size by the actual dimensions of your jig and attached rings, then select Petrol Graphite or Mist Aubergine. Separate mesh sleeves, a fold-over retention flap and two adjustable wrap straps form the design.

Development status: This is a design-stage product brief awaiting supplier samples. All dimensions, material choices and fit envelopes below are proposed targets, not measured stock specifications. Images are generated concept visualizations, not photographs of manufactured products or approved production drawings. Jigs, hooks, rings and other tackle are not included.

Design philosophy: build your jig selection before the drift

Driftfold combines a single row of eight numbered sleeves with a restrained contour-line identity. Organize bare jigs by profile, length or intended presentation rather than piling them into a reel case. The roll format is intended to fit inside a separate tackle bag; it has no carrying handle and is not a lifting sling. Open it on a secure, level surface, select a jig and close it before the boat moves.

The distinction is practical: this is jig storage, not a reel cover, lure action modification or fish-catching guarantee. The eight sleeves are an organization target, not approval to carry eight jigs of any mass.

Dimensions are in millimetres. Overall dimensions are measured flat without stretching; usable sleeve dimensions are measured inside the seams. The 60 mm flap folds over and overlaps the pocket opening. A mesh pocket's flat width alone does not prove that a thick lure fits: the simultaneous length, width and thickness envelope must be checked with three-dimensional gauges and real jigs on the first sample.

Measure the jig with any rings you intend to leave attached. Remove assist hooks and trebles before loading; this design is not specified for exposed hooks. A 100 g slim jig and a 100 g broad slow-pitch jig may need different storage space. Neither weight nor fish species establishes fit. Do not force broad leaf jigs into a narrow sleeve.

Eight-part component design brief

01 Outer shell and base panel

Proposed material: 600-denier polyester with a matte TPU-coated exterior. Cut patterns and seam allowances must be developed from the finished-size targets, not by cutting the fabric to the finished dimensions. Use 420 × 300 mm and 420 × 400 mm as finished flat targets. Preliminary overall dimensional tolerance is ±3 mm for first-article review; supplier capability and functional fit must be approved before freezing production tolerances. No waterproof, abrasion-rating or recycled-content claim is assigned.

02 Eight mesh sleeves

Proposed material: soft coated polyester mesh with approximately 1–2 mm openings, subject to material sampling. Use an eight-column layout with nominal 46 mm pitch and 38 mm clear openings. Eight pitches occupy 368 mm, leaving 52 mm across the 420 mm panel for side structures and layout adjustment. The pattern maker must resolve seam build-up and edge clearances. Target clear usable lengths are 230 or 330 mm. Reject seams that reduce usable space below the approved fit gauge, even if the flat outer panel passes its size check.

03 Retention flap

Use a soft 60 mm-deep top flap with no exposed hard edge. It overlaps the upper sleeve openings when closed, then rolls with the panel. Sample testing must confirm it covers jig ends and cannot easily fold out under a normal transport motion. It is not a certified escape-proof or puncture-proof closure. Check access with wet hands without making an unsupported grip-performance claim.

04 Bound edges and stitching

Use approximately 20 mm unfolded polyester binding tape, targeting a smooth finished bound edge of approximately 10 mm where the construction permits. Proposed bonded-polyester thread and a nominal 3 mm stitch length require sewing trials with the actual mesh and shell. Reinforce sleeve ends and strap anchors without creating sharp internal seams. Set stitch density, thread size and reinforcement pattern after seam-slip and tear trials, not from a render.

05 Wrap straps

Provide two 25 mm-wide straps with hook-and-loop adjustment. Initial strap cut-length target is 450 mm each, to be revised using the real loaded roll circumference. Recess or cover abrasive hook surfaces so they do not rub against adjacent tackle. Confirm both an empty and an approved loaded roll close with sufficient engagement. No buckle, zip or exposed metal fitting is included in the base design.

06 Removable EVA cushioning strip

Initial strip target: 340 × 25 × 1.5 mm, enclosed in a fabric sleeve along the lower panel rather than pierced through the jig pockets. Select EVA firmness and edge finishing through bending and compression trials. The strip cushions a local contact area; it is not a hook keeper, stab-resistant insert, load-bearing reinforcement or guarantee against lure-coating damage. Check that it does not block drainage and can be removed for drying.

07 Identification and GOOFISH detailing

Use small numbered 01–08 sleeve tabs, a compact woven GOOFISH label and the Driftfold 8 model identifier. Proposed label footprint is 45 × 12 mm; proposed number tabs are 10 × 8 mm. A pair of interrupted contour lines on the outer flap and a short contrasting seam segment near the strap anchor create the signature. Keep the main panels calm rather than using camouflage or oversized repeated logos. Obtain approved brand artwork and run a legibility sample before production. This is a proposed house design direction, not a claim of registered design protection or worldwide uniqueness.

08 Drainage and maintenance access

Use the mesh openings as the drainage path. Avoid unnecessary metal eyelets and enclosed bottom channels that trap debris. Lay the roll fully open to rinse and dry; remove all tackle for inspection and complete drying. A mesh surface permits drainage but does not establish a drying time, corrosion protection or mold resistance. The roll is not waterproof and should not be used to contain a wet lure inside sealed luggage.

432 C, 3165 C, Warm Gray 1 C and 5195 C belong to the PANTONE Solid Coated graphics library; 876 C belongs to Metallics Coated. These are visual directions, not textile dye recipes, EVA compound formulas or a promise that a screen matches a manufactured item. Use genuine physical standards and keep approved substrate-specific master samples.

Matte sampling: approve the actual coated fabric, surface texture, gloss and print after curing, then check folded and stitched assemblies for whitening, cracking, rub transfer and color shift. Confirm dry and wet appearance under agreed lighting. Do not assume a coated-paper standard will reproduce identically on fabric.

Metallic sampling: approve the proposed 876 C-inspired emblem ink on the real fabric under several viewing angles. It is a metallic-look print, not a metal component. The design deliberately avoids exposed metal hardware. Any later metal badge or buckle needs a separate physical finish master, edge-safety review, corrosion evaluation and weight review; do not substitute one silently.

EVA sampling: approve actual sheet thickness, firmness, compression recovery, surface feel and charcoal color together. Inspect a cut edge and the fully enclosed strip. Do not require EVA to match a glossy print chip without a material-specific acceptance standard. Supplier and buyer must agree color/gloss acceptance criteria after sampling; no untested Delta E threshold is claimed.

Fishing methods, species and environments

Driftfold is intended to organize metal jigs used for offshore slow-pitch jigging, vertical speed jigging and suitable shore-jigging trips. Snapper, grouper, cod, pollock, amberjack and yellowtail are examples of fisheries where anglers may carry metal jigs. The bag does not determine whether a rod, lure or fishing method is appropriate for any species. Choose storage by measured lure geometry and approved total load, not by a fish name.

Use it inside a suitable tackle bag on boats, piers or shore trips. Keep it away from open deck edges, propellers, walkways and fish-handling areas. It is neither a fish bag nor a food-contact container. It has no flotation, submersion, impact-protection or aviation baggage certification.

Selection checklist

  1. Remove hooks and measure the remaining jig with attached rings: length, widest point and maximum thickness.
  2. Choose 220 Standard for a proposed envelope up to 220 × 32 × 12 mm, or 320 Long for up to 320 × 32 × 12 mm. If any dimension exceeds the envelope, do not assume the larger length model solves a width or thickness problem.
  3. Allow room for the flap to close without bending a jig, compressing mesh excessively or forcing the roll.
  4. Select Petrol Graphite or Mist Aubergine. Color does not change the storage envelope or strength.
  5. Before launch, replace these development envelopes with first-article verified measurements and the approved total-load guidance.

What is included and what is not

Proposed contents: one eight-pocket roll in the selected size and finish, two attached wrap straps and one removable enclosed EVA strip. Jigs, split rings, assist hooks, hook covers, reels and an outer tackle bag are not included. Do not store loose bare hooks in the mesh sleeves.

First-article approval before customer sale

Verify actual materials, finished dimensions, usable pockets and all four variant combinations against the approved master. Test the three-dimensional fit envelope, jig-end retention, seam loading, strap-anchor loading and closure engagement using documented loads and acceptance criteria. Establish a safe total-load recommendation from test results rather than multiplying an assumed jig weight by eight. Test repeated rolling, wet/dry cycles, binding wear, color transfer, coating flex and closure fouling with normal debris. Document seam, print and EVA failures and revise the pattern as needed.

Measure finished and packed mass and dimensions before entering shipping data. Obtain supplier material declarations and final manufacturing artwork before production. The generated boards may simplify or miscount details: the written requirement is eight pockets, and supplier-controlled patterns govern manufacturing after approval. This accessory has no rod Action, Power, guide train or reel seat; FUJI rod-component model numbers are not applicable and are not added as decorative claims.

Care

After saltwater use, remove the jigs and EVA strip, rinse the open roll in fresh water and let every part dry before storing. Inspect stitching, mesh, straps and lure surfaces regularly. Do not use solvents, direct high heat or a pressure washer. Replace damaged components or retire the roll if retention becomes unreliable. Storage does not replace lure and hook maintenance.

Questions before choosing

Does jig weight determine which size I need?

No. Length, width, thickness and the approved total load are separate requirements. Heavy compact jigs and light long jigs can need different checks.

Can I store rigged assist hooks inside?

The initial design is for hook-free jigs with rings only. Exposed hooks can catch mesh or cause injury. Hooked-lure storage would require a different validated protective design.

Is it waterproof or corrosion-proof?

No. The mesh construction is intentionally open. Rinse, inspect and dry the roll and tackle separately.
