GOOFISH
GOOFISH® Riftcarrier 603 Travel Jigging Spinning Rod
Description
Product details
The GOOFISH® Riftcarrier 603 is a proposed three-piece travel jigging spinning rod for controlled vertical metal-jig work from a boat. Its 1830 mm assembled-length target combines a triggerless spinning layout, an extended foregrip and two separately developed specifications: 603M for 80–180 g vertical jigs and PE1–2, or 603MH for 150–300 g and PE2–4. Choose Mineral Slate or Oxide Sage after selecting the appropriate rod specification.
Development brief, not verified production stock: All new rod ratings, dimensions, materials, assembly details and numerical acceptance criteria below are proposed targets requiring engineer approval and actual samples. Photographic-style generated images are design concepts, not real sample photographs, exact FUJI geometry or approved manufacturing drawings. The images and written brief support sample discussion; they do not constitute a release-to-manufacture package. Structural dimensions that have not been engineered remain explicitly pending.

Riftcarrier: pack the rod, preserve the jigging purpose
Riftcarrier combines the idea of a deliberately divided structure with carrying a boat-jigging outfit. The 603 family denotes approximately six feet and three sections; 1830 mm is the controlling metric-length target. This is not a relabeled one-piece slow-pitch rod, a long shore-casting rod or a light inshore lure-casting travel rod. The proposed role is compact transport for vertical jig work, not maximum-distance casting.
Two put-over joints, a longer two-hand contact area and a restrained three-bar section-index identity differentiate the concept. The foregrip is intentionally longer than the short foregrip of a freshwater crankbait casting rod. A faceted EVA profile and shallow transverse tactile bands replace longitudinal flutes. Use three short oblique bars as a family signature, with section numbers and alignment ticks doing separate practical jobs. No camouflage, coastline map, wave pattern, broad gold sleeve or L-corner graphic is specified.
The development aim is controlled loading during a vertical lift followed by usable recovery for the selected jig. It is not a promise of superior sensitivity, automatic jig action, reduced fatigue or the strength of a one-piece rod. The two joints make engineering and sample validation more important, not less.

The jig ranges refer to fully rigged metal jigs worked vertically, including hooks, rings and other attached hardware. They are not overhead casting ranges, sinker-plus-bait allowances or fish-weight limits. Current, line angle, jig shape, depth and retrieve acceleration affect load; do not automatically select the heaviest listed jig. No guaranteed fishing depth is assigned.
PE identifies a line-sizing class, not an exact pound-test or breaking-strength conversion. Actual line diameter, knot passage, leader, abrasion, reel behavior and the landing plan must be checked. The two colors do not change the taper or ratings, and the M and MH must be developed as distinct blanks rather than by changing decals on the same blank.
Action, Power, bending profile and recovery
Power describes resistance to deflection. Action describes where the blank bends under a defined fixture and load. Moderate-Fast is the proposed bending-distribution target: the upper region starts working, with progressive middle participation as load rises and support retained in the lower region. It does not specify an exact 6:4 curve, a percentage of blank length under every load or a recovery speed.
Develop a hollow carbon-fiber composite blank with supplier-engineered material placement, resin, wall schedule and local joint reinforcement. No carbon tonnage, fiber origin, modulus, percentage, proprietary cross-wrap technology or Solid Nano construction is assigned. The composite proposal is not an established material specification. Validate tip response, middle loading and butt support together; a short soft tip above stiff joints is not automatically a suitable jigging taper.
Record comparable load-deflection curves for M and MH in the same fixture and check local curvature on both sides of J1 and J2. Separately measure dynamic recovery, damping and jig-control behavior using the proposed jig range. Moderate-Fast does not establish how quickly the blank stops oscillating, and a static proof pass does not validate recovery or repeated jigging durability.
01–02 Tip, guides and line path

Develop finished tip diameter from the approved laminate, not by choosing a tip-top tube first. The initial tip-top candidate is FUJI PMNST with nominal ring size 8. Tube bore remains unassigned until the actual coated tip and available supplier combinations are measured. Do not sand structural fibers to force a predetermined tube. Confirm engagement, adhesive process, tang installation, ring edges and alignment.
The trial guide train is eight guides plus one tip-top: PKWSG-S25/16/10, one each; PKWSG-S8, two; PKTSG-S8, three; PMNST8 at the tip. These are candidate genuine FUJI components, not an installed or optimized layout. Mount the spinning reel below the rod and keep the train in its appropriate below-blank working orientation; do not add a casting trigger or copy a casting guide train.
Use actual reel spool diameter and height, line/leader combination and loaded blank to establish guide stations. Check outgoing line, knot passage and line-to-blank clearance under representative working loads. Do not bridge either removable joint with a guide foot or wrap. No fixed station-distance list is supplied before the blank and reel exist. A generated whole-rod guide count is not a drilling or wrapping instruction.
FUJI candidate bill of materials
| Position | Candidate / quantity | Verification before ordering or assembly |
|---|---|---|
| Lower reduction guides | FUJI PKWSG-S, nominal 25/16/10, one each; polished stainless frames, Slim SiC | Check current supplier code, exact heights, actual reel exit and interference with the first joint. |
| Middle guides | FUJI PKWSG-S8 ×2 | Place by loaded line-path evaluation on the developed blank, not evenly spaced by appearance. |
| Upper runners | FUJI PKTSG-S8 ×3, single-foot KT candidates, Slim SiC | Check ring aperture, knot clearance, tip mass and retention on the actual upper section. |
| Tip-top | FUJI PMNST8, polished SiC MN candidate; tube bore pending | Nominal ring size does not identify tube bore. Match the finished tip and confirm available combination. |
| 603M reel seat | FUJI DPSM18BC; nominal bore 18 mm, OD21 mm, body length 124 mm | Use current genuine drawings and actual blank/engineered arbor fit. Dimensions are component-catalog references, not blank diameters. |
| 603MH reel seat | FUJI DPSM20BC; nominal bore 20 mm, OD23 mm, body length 129 mm | Independently confirm reel-foot capture, hood engagement, nut travel and bonded support for this larger seat. |
Ring size is nominal, not clear aperture. Preserve genuine factory guide, ring and seat finishes; do not repaint threads, ceramic inserts, guide feet or tip tubes to match artwork. Polished stainless steel is not a claim of corrosion immunity. Rinse and dry after salt exposure. Confirm authenticity, current order suffixes and availability before approving the BOM.

03–04 Blank, section identity and two put-over joints

Target 1830 mm assembled length with three complete rod sections. The transport goal is a longest individual section no more than 700 mm; this is not a measured packed length or an airline cabin-baggage guarantee. Cut lengths must include the actual approved engagement geometry. Dividing 1830 by three does not produce a valid cutting plan. Confirm final assembly and separated-section measurements before entering shipping dimensions.
J1 connects the butt/lower section to the middle; J2 connects middle to tip. Propose upper-over-lower composite put-over construction at both interfaces. Each joint requires its own socket bore, male taper, engagement length, wall schedule, fit tolerance, reinforcement and assembly instructions. These structural numbers remain pending and must not be read from rendered images. No external metal bell, screw coupling or decorative metal socket is specified.
Review bending continuity rather than simply adding thick reinforcement. Avoid a rigid bridge, local hinge or abrupt material transition at either joint; do not assume that passing a static test proves repeated-cycle performance. Confirm seating after wet/dry assembly, grit control, repeated assembly and jigging cycles. Test loosening and rotation, as well as joint removal without loading guide frames. No spigot-gap rule from another rod is transferred to these put-over joints.
Use small section numbers 1/2/3 and separate alignment ticks. The main family graphic is three oblique interrupted index bars, not a substitute for an alignment mark. Record all three section identities by taper so M and MH sections cannot be mixed during assembly or service. Do not add permanent wraps or artwork layers across the removable interfaces.
05–06 Extended foregrip and triggerless spinning seat

Propose a faceted charcoal EVA foregrip 120 mm long/max OD27 mm for M and 140/max OD28 mm for MH. Shallow transverse tactile bands and flattened contact facets form the new grip identity. Their depth, foam density and firmness require physical ergonomic trials. Do not assign anti-slip, fatigue-reduction or wet-grip performance claims before testing.
Foregrip length is for the intended hand-contact and controlled jigging layout. It does not permit high-sticking, lifting fish or clamping the bare blank. Check hand reach around the seat, guide clearance, knuckles, actual reel and deck-side working posture. Keep hand-contact surfaces free of sharp trim or decorative steps.
Use the DPSM18BC and DPSM20BC seat candidates described above, with proposed seat-body midpoint datums 330 mm(M) and 350 mm(MH) from the physical butt end. These are layout datums, not measured reel-foot or spool centers. Engineer bonded arbors and adhesive interfaces to the actual blank; the seat bore is not the structural butt diameter. No trigger is part of this spinning layout.
The listed EVA lengths describe the main grip bodies and exclude cap engagement, trim and any separate non-metallic seat-transition collar. Resolve those interfaces, rear-grip overlap, seat length and foregrip transitions in one dimensional chain. Any required transition must cover the blank without an exposed-blank split-grip gap or sharp step. Its final length and material need approval against the actual seat assembly; do not add independent nominal component lengths and assume they will match the layout datum. Check full-foot support, threaded hardware travel and tightening under use without forcing a reel shoe.
07–08 Rear EVA and GOOFISH branded butt cap

Target continuous rear EVA length 220 mm/max OD28 mm for M, or240/max OD29 mm for MH. Use broad subtle facets with shallow transverse bands, not the longitudinal flutes of the preceding crankbait concept. Band depth remains a foam-sample decision and must not expose or cut structural fibers. Approve molded/shaped material and the actual bonded part, not only a color chip or rendering.
The rounded charcoal butt-cap targets are 30 mm maximum OD/25 mm axial length for M and 31/25 mm for MH. Use a small recessed flat end face carrying the approved GOOFISH vector wordmark in a proposed 16 ×2.5 mm envelope. Propose a20 mm diameter artwork zone, with three small oblique index bars underneath the wordmark. Artwork proportions, face clearance and legibility require supplier approval; the generated lettering is not a production vector.
The cap wordmark uses a PANTONE 7527 C light-neutral appearance reference on both finishes. Secondary bars use 381 C for Mineral Slate or5773 C for Oxide Sage. Propose recessed-face pad printing, with recess depth, ink, surface preparation and process tolerances left to the approved cap material and supplier. Confirm adhesion, abrasion, cleaning compatibility and safe edges on actual samples. Do not promise measured print durability.
Use narrow satin-silver decorative trim, maximum 1.5 mm visible axial width as a design target, referenced visually to PANTONE 877 C. This is not a plating recipe, a nickel-alloy claim or structural reinforcement. No large metal medallion, gimbal, fish-lifting fitting or waterproof seal is specified. Do not print or engrave the brand into EVA foam or structural blank fibers.
Minimum pulling-force design gates and engineering procedure

Proposed minimum static line-tension proof gates are 35 N for 603M and 45 N for 603MH, approximately 3.57/4.59 kgf. These are untested internal development choices for this specific design and fixture, not certified industry standards, ultimate breaking strengths, working drag, fish weights or lifting capacities. The Power labels and PE classes do not mathematically establish these targets. No older GOOFISH model inherits them.
A qualified engineer must approve the blank, limits and complete fixture drawing before any test. Use a guarded remote-controlled rig, calibrated inline load cell and suitable test line; keep people clear of stored-energy and line-failure paths. No hand-bending or hanging household weights is authorized.
- Fixture and support: Set butt-end x=0 and the original unloaded butt axis toward the tip as +X. Propose a padded rear support centered at x100 mm and an approved representative reel-foot/seat support referenced to the seat-body midpoint 330 mm(M) or350 mm(MH). Engineer actual fixture compliance, saddle shape and attachment; do not hard-clamp a bare structural blank or crush the seat. A different fixture cannot inherit these thresholds without review.
- Line path and direction: Route test line from the locked representative spinning-reel fixture through every guide and tip-top. Measure actual outgoing line tension and control its force direction 45 degrees below the original unloaded +X butt axis in the guide plane as the tip moves. The angle is not to the bent-tip tangent or an unspecified floor reference; a moving actuator may be necessary.
- Proposed sequence: Seat joints by the approved method and mark engagement baselines. Apply 2 N preload, smoothly ramp at5 N/s to35 N(M) or45 N(MH), hold 10 seconds, unload gradually, rest 60 seconds and repeat for three cycles. No snatch, impact or bouncing load is equivalent.
- Proposed acceptance: No fracture, delamination, audible damage, local hinge, ceramic damage, loose guide, wrap cracking or seat slip. Proposed cumulative axial movement limit is0.5 mm at each joint against its own baseline. Proposed residual tip-position change is no more than 3 mm after 10 minutes unloaded recovery in the same fixture. These are provisional screening criteria requiring engineer sign-off, not universal quality limits.
- Stop and record: Stop on damage, uncontrolled twist, damaging line contact or movement beyond approved limits. Record force-time trace, outgoing vector, actual fixture, joint engagement, line/reel setup and before/after condition. Propose at least three independently built samples per taper for initial screening; confirm the appropriate sampling plan and production controls separately.
A static proof pass would not validate repeated jigging, casting, transport impact, joint wear, coating flex life, salt exposure or dynamic hook loads. Define separate durability and ergonomic trials using the actual reel and complete jig range. Do not publish a customer drag setting by applying an invented percentage or safety factor to35/45 N. Consumer working limits must come from a validated complete development program.

432 C,381 C,492 C,5773 C and 7527 C are Solid Coated graphics references;877 C is a Metallics Coated reference. Use current physical publications and approved masters. Screen simulations and generated images are not PANTONE-certified material matches. This is a proposed house design direction, not a claim of market exclusivity, patent protection or cleared naming rights.
Matte coating sample requirements
Prepare cured samples on the actual composite substrate using the intended primer, paint, clearcoat and texture. Compare hue, coverage and sheen in agreed lighting, and evaluate wrap-thread appearance under cured finish. Set approved process-specific color and gloss limits after selecting a physical master. Verify adhesion, rubbing and coating flexibility, particularly around both joints. Do not convert a coated-paper code directly into an assumed paint recipe or coat engagement surfaces without engineering approval.
Metal sample requirements
Approve actual trim material, satin finish, reflection, edge safety and retention. The 877 C appearance reference does not define plating, anodizing, alloy or corrosion performance. Keep trim slender and nonstructural. Preserve genuine guide and seat finishes and confirm compatibility with the adhesive/coating process. No untested salt-spray duration or corrosion rating is claimed.
EVA sample requirements
Approve physical charcoal shade, density, firmness, compression recovery, facet profile and transverse-band depth. Evaluate reach, wet/dry hand comfort and repeated two-hand jigging with the actual reel. Check cap retention and adhesive interfaces. Foam and ink appearance require separate masters; no dry sample or image establishes wet-grip performance. Do not add a printed camo sleeve or full-length metal accent as a substitute for the specified surfaces.
Fish, techniques and environment
The proposed use is vertical boat jigging for appropriately sized snapper, grouper and related reef fish, or smaller amberjack/yellowtail when the actual tackle, location and landing method suit. Species names are not fish-weight ratings. The M addresses lighter jig targets; the MH addresses heavier vertical jigs after physical verification. Large tuna, giant trevally, heavy wreck extraction and lifting fish over a high rail are not the design claim.
Candidate methods include controlled short lifts, pauses, falls and paced jig retrieves with a compatible spinning reel. It is not positioned as a specialized maximum-speed jigging rod, automatic slow-pitch system, shore-jigging casting rod, trolling rod or bottom-bait lifting tool. Test jigging cadence and resistance with real jigs rather than selecting only by dry mass.
Focus on boat decks and safe inshore/offshore reef drifts with an appropriate landing route. Depth alone cannot determine jig mass: current, line diameter, wind drift and verticality all matter. No fixed depth or sea-state limit is assigned. Inspect and recheck both joints in use; use proper landing equipment rather than raising fish with the rod.
Select your configuration
- Start with the fully rigged vertical jig: M80–180 g or MH150–300 g target. These are not overhead casting ratings.
- Compare current, jig resistance and the line class with the actual reel, leader and knot. PE is not an exact pound-test conversion.
- Check actual reel-foot fit, balance and hand reach. A generic reel-size number or another product's reel is not confirmed compatibility.
- Verify measured separated-section length against transport needs once samples exist. The 700 mm goal excludes a case and does not establish airline acceptance.
- Choose Mineral Slate or Oxide Sage. Color changes styling, not Power, Action or the untested proof target.
Proposed contents and release checklist
Proposed contents are one matched three-section rod in the selected specification and finish, plus a simple three-compartment cloth sock after fit approval. No reel, line, jigs, hooks or rigid travel case is included. Three sections do not mean interchangeable power tips or an extra spare tip.
Before production, approve supplier structural drawings, material schedule and both joint assemblies; confirm genuine FUJI codes and actual fit. Measure assembled length, each cut/packed section, finished mass, balance, structural diameters and grip dimensions. Validate Action, Power, recovery, real jig behavior, approved proof and durability separately for both tapers. Confirm physical color/material masters, printed artwork and all safe edges.
Before sale, confirm shipping mass and packaging dimensions, customer working limits, assembly/care instructions and the accuracy of the images. Do not publish unmeasured weight or packaging as factual specifications. This draft is a detailed sample-development proposal, not a verified strength certificate or a guarantee of commercial demand.
