Goofish® Rod-More Than Fishing
GOOFISH® TRAILFOLD 705 Five-Piece Travel Spinning Rod — Design Concept
Description
Product details
The GOOFISH TRAILFOLD 705 is a five-piece travel spinning rod concept built around a compact hiking and backpacking setup: one straight cork handle section, four tapered upper sections and a single Graphite Moss finish. Its development targets combine a 210cm assembled length with a longest separate section of 47cm.
Development concept, not a production-ready product. The photographic-style images are generated design renders, not sample photographs or manufacturing drawings. New dimensions, materials, component fit and performance targets require prototype validation. This five-piece direction replaces the earlier four-piece concept.
Five-piece travel rod layout
Separate rod sections are intended to make packing easier without using a telescopic mechanism. A compact packed-length target does not establish compatibility with every backpack, luggage compartment or airline policy.

Straight spinning handle with natural cork
The handle design uses a long natural-cork rear grip, a triggerless spinning reel seat and a short cork foregrip. Rubberized cork wear zones are proposed. The rear grip, reel seat and foregrip form one handle section only; the other four sections have no additional handles or reel seats.
- Butt datum x=0 increases toward the tip. Butt-cap axial target: 15mm, x0–15.
- Rear cork grip: 200mm target, x15–215.
- Reel-seat installation envelope: 110mm allowance, x215–325.
- Foregrip: 40mm target, x325–365.
- Grip outside-diameter targets: M 26mm; MH 27mm. Butt-cap outside-diameter targets: M 28mm; MH 29mm.
The FUJI DPSM16-BC is a procurement candidate, with a graphite body and frosted dark-grey hood appearance. Its catalog body length is 105mm, nominal inside diameter 15.5mm and outside profiles 21.7/18.3mm. The 105mm component length is not the 110mm installation allowance. Blank fit, arbors, adhesive bondline, hood travel, reel-foot clearance and transitions require separate M/MH trial assembly before a common seat can be approved. Renders do not reproduce exact manufacturer geometry.

Composite joints and alignment
Four composite put-over joints connect the sections; no external metal ferrule sleeve is specified. The separate lengths total 2300mm. Subtracting four provisional 50mm overlap budgets gives the 2100mm assembled target. These are layout budgets, not approved engagement depths: each joint needs individual taper, bore, wall, reinforcement, insertion-force, clearance, wear-limit and tolerance engineering.
Alignment ticks target 8 × 1mm on the guide plane. Section IDs S1–S5 and the selected M or MH code target 2mm character height on non-mating outer surfaces. A station 12mm behind a socket lip is provisional; joints without a corresponding socket need their own marking location. Actual guide feet and joint reinforcement take precedence. Do not print, paint or wrap insertion mating surfaces.

Graphite Moss finish and English markings
Graphite-black carbon surfaces, muted moss-green nylon wraps, natural cork and warm-ivory English branding define the single-color design. Small twin bands, a butt-face dash and an optional reverse-side dot motif provide restrained detail without implying additional power or performance ratings.
- Appearance references: PANTONE 432 C body; 5743 C moss wraps and accents; 7527 C ivory lettering, alignment marks and trim; 877 C silver accent appearance.
- Approve separate physical coating, thread, ink and metal masters. Pantone references are not paint formulas, thread product codes or anodizing recipes; rendered swatches and screens are not production color standards. Cork remains undyed.
- Guide-wrap length follows the selected foot plus a provisional 2mm beyond each end. Ivory endline target: 1mm; silver accent: 0.5mm. Trial wrapping must confirm end clearance and finish build.
- Rear-grip-to-seat transition: two moss decorative bands, each 1mm wide with a 1mm clear gap, within the existing installation envelope. Exact axial station follows trial assembly.
Rod name, logo and parameter placement
- Use the merchant-approved stylized GOOFISH wordmark, including its distinctive connected double-O letterform. Retain the approved mark's proportions rather than substituting generic lettering. The rod wordmark has a 30 × 3.5mm target fit box within the x375–405 print zone. Model-name character height: 1.8mm. Parameter-line character height: 1.2mm, maximum 30mm width. Proposed line gaps: 1.5mm.
- Keep printing within x405; reserve x420–470 as a preliminary first-joint branding keepout, not a structural insertion or reinforcement specification. Actual joint geometry and guide clearance take precedence.
- Separate English development artwork: “GOOFISH / TRAILFOLD 705 / 210cm TARGET | 5PC | M FAST” or the MH FAST version. Never print both powers on one production rod. TARGET is a development label; final production text must use approved measured specifications.
- Butt-face GOOFISH wordmark: use the same approved stylized mark, proportionally fitted within a 16 × 3mm target box and centered in a provisional 20mm print field on a graphite-grey cap. Optional moss dash: 4 × 0.6mm, 3mm below the wordmark bottom edge, with at least 3mm effective edge clearance. Confirm curvature, recess and print adhesion.
- Optional reverse-side ivory dots: 0.8mm diameter; centers x410/412/414, at 180 degrees from the main print. Decorative only, not a power code. Confirm clearance from guide feet and reinforcement.
Use approved vector brand artwork, not a logo extracted from a generated image. Trial the actual circumference, ink, surface preparation, cure and small-text legibility. If printing cannot fit clearly, revise the approved print zone and clearances before manufacturing. Repeated labels in any render are illustrative and do not add print operations.

Guide and tip-top procurement candidates
The trial layout uses reduction sizes 25H, 12H and 6M, followed by five size-6 running guides and a ring-6 tip-top: eight guides plus tip. Candidate families include FUJI BCKLAG-related reduction guides, BCKTAG runners and a BCLGAT tip-top. Alconite rings and dark-grey BC frame appearance are proposed; the BCLGAT direction uses a stainless frame.
This is not an installed, tested bill of materials. In particular, the 6M medium-frame candidate needs its correct family and full supplier order code; it must not be treated as an automatically valid -H high-frame SKU. Confirm size availability, frame material and finish, tip tube bore, component mass and spacing using the actual M/MH blanks and trial reels. Check spool geometry, static line path, leader-knot clearance, guide feet, joint keepouts and packing space. Do not buy parts solely from rendered shapes.

Travel sleeve and case concepts
The protection direction pairs a five-channel sleeve with a slim semi-rigid case. Separate channels and end padding are intended to keep the five sections organized, but the layout still needs real packing tests.
- Longest section: 470mm target.
- Sleeve external length target: no more than 500mm.
- Case external-envelope target: 500 × 75 × 65mm.
- These are untested accessory targets, not shipping dimensions. Verify guide height, reel-seat occupancy, channel clearance, padding and end protection.
- Fabric, zipper, lining, seams, packaging graphics and final dimensions require approval. Sleeve and case are not confirmed included. No universal backpack or airline fit is claimed.

Prototype approval before production
The proposed blank is a carbon-fiber/epoxy composite; fiber supplier and grade, resin, layup, wall thickness and reinforcement remain unapproved. Natural cork, rubberized cork wear zones, nylon wraps and supplier-approved low-build clear epoxy require material samples. Adhesives, thread specification, coating thickness, cure conditions and acceptance criteria are still to be defined.
Prototype review must verify full and packed lengths, mass, reel fit, M/MH bending and action, guide alignment and line path. Repeated joint assembly, axial slip, twist, cyclic loading and transport checks need an engineer-approved guarded plan specifying fixtures, load direction, ramp, hold and pass criteria. Numerical proof loads are not assigned. Concept dimensions do not establish working drag, fish weight, lifting capacity or tested strength.
