Description

Product details

GOOFISH BREAKLINE 962 is a shore jigging spinning rod development concept for anglers who want a shorter, deliberate two-handed platform for medium-heavy and heavy metal jigs. Its proposed 2.90 m two-section layout combines a continuous rear EVA grip, a triggerless pipe reel seat and a restrained coastal color palette.

DRAFT DEVELOPMENT PROJECT, NOT A RELEASED PRODUCT. Specifications, component fit, lure ranges, weights, action and load requirements below are untested design targets. Concept illustrations are not photographs of a manufactured sample, exact component drawings or production instructions. Rendered guide counts, some grip proportions and dimension leaders may be simplified or misplaced; the written component count and datum schedule override artwork. Do not activate this listing until engineering, procurement and sample validation are complete.

Choose MH for the lighter end of this concept's shore-jigging range and sustained sessions with 50–80 g jigs. Choose H when your regular payload approaches 70–100 g and you need the heavier development envelope. Count the jig, hooks, split rings and other cast hardware together. The maximum numbers are not recommended everyday casting weights. PE numbers describe a line-size reference, not a guaranteed breaking strength.

Where and how it is intended to fish

The design brief targets shore-based metal-jig casting from beaches, accessible harbor walls and rock platforms with a safe landing position. Proposed presentations include controlled lift-and-fall retrieves, short jigging strokes and steady swimming retrieves. Select jig shape and mass for depth, current, wind and your ability to maintain contact, rather than choosing the heaviest lure automatically.

Intended target groups include appropriately sized mackerel, bonito, bluefish and coastal jacks. Yellowtail and other powerful coastal pelagics require species-specific tackle, adequate line capacity and a viable landing plan; their inclusion is not a fish-weight rating. This is not a specialist heavy-GT popping, shark, overhead-reel or boat vertical-jigging design. A jig rating does not automatically validate a high-resistance popper of the same mass.

Use a spinning reel, not a baitcaster or overhead reel. Trial MH with common 5000–6000-class reels and H with 6000–8000-class reels, checking the actual reel foot, spool geometry, loaded weight and line capacity because size numbering varies by manufacturer. Neither reel size nor PE range sets a safe drag limit. Working drag must be established separately after rod and complete-outfit testing. No reel, line, leader, lure or landing equipment is included in the planned rod-only offer.

Action is not power

Power is the intended resistance of the blank to loading; MH and H distinguish the two proposed load envelopes. Action describes where the rod begins to bend. Moderate-Fast is the target progressive bend, not a claim that the H is faster than the MH. Blank curve and recovery must be checked using measured deflection and casting trials before either label is released.

A different coastal design direction

BREAKLINE uses a shorter 2.90 m architecture than the existing 3.05 m Strandwake concept, a heavier proposed jig window and a continuous EVA rear grip rather than a decorative split-grip focus. The design priorities are secure two-hand placement, serviceable standard components, controlled finish weight and repeatable joint alignment. No promise of increased distance, sensitivity, catch rate or strength is made without testing.

Sea Glass Graphite pairs a muted petrol-teal lower blank with graphite EVA and small warm-stone accents. Ember Slate uses a dark slate lower blank and limited burnt-copper-color painted accents. Both retain restrained silver guide frames and small offset contour-line graphics. The burnt-copper accent is a color proposal, not a copper-alloy specification. Use GOOFISH and BREAKLINE 962 markings sparingly; do not apply unverified technology labels.

The following is an initial sample brief, not a released manufacturing drawing. All dimensions are in millimeters. Set x = 0 at the finished butt end, increasing toward the tip. Dimensions apply to the assembled rod unless a section is explicitly identified.

Part or datum Trial geometry Engineering attention
Two-section blank Upper 1500, lower 1500, overlap 100; 1500 + 1500 − 100 = 2900 Section lengths refer to finished ends. Release the taper and trim allowance before blank cutting.

Continuous rear EVA x22–382, length 360; OD 32 at butt end tapering toward OD 28 at seat Closed-cell EVA, initial Shore C 65 ±5. Validate wet grip, compression and adhesive compatibility.
Rear trim collar x382–388, length 6 Color-painted non-load-bearing trim; no sharp hand-contact edges.
MH seat x388–512, nominal length 124 DPSM18BC candidate, nominal ID 18; supplier chart OD maxima 24.4 / 21.0.

Forward collar and EVA MH collar x512–518, foregrip x518–598; H collar x517–523, foregrip x523–603 Collar 6; foregrip 80, OD objective 28 tapering to 24. Clear the locking hood at all reel-foot positions.
Reel-seat center reference MH x450; H x452.5 Geometric center only, not a promise of actual reel-stem position.
Composite put-over joint Upper female over lower male; overlap target 100; initial fit reserve 8–12 The reserve is remaining shoulder clearance, not an addition to the 100 overlap. Avoid bottoming out. No paint or metal sleeve on mating surfaces.

Use compatible full-circumference reel-seat arbors with a controlled structural adhesive bond, not loosely packed decorative spacers. Confirm bore, arbor length, adhesive gap and wall support on measured blanks. Do not drill or ream a finished blank to fit a seat. The laminate, resin system, taper and joint wall schedule must be supplied and signed off by the blank engineer; no carbon tonnage or proprietary resin claim is approved.

Initial non-critical assembly inspection objectives are grip/collar axial placement within ±1 mm, assembled length within ±5 mm and guide alignment within ±1 degree. These are proposed checks, not guaranteed factory capabilities. Joint taper, fit clearance, wall thickness and tip-tube adhesive allowance require engineer-defined tolerances rather than these generic limits. Record finished masses individually; do not use the development mass range as a shipping weight.

Stripper and transition PKWSG30 ×1, PKWSG20 ×1, PKWSG12 ×1, PKWSG10 ×1 Polished stainless SiC K-series double-foot procurement direction. Confirm exact generation, suffix and supplier drawings.
Running guides PKWSG8 ×4 Four separate size-8 guides, not four total guides.
Tip-top PMNST8 ×1, tube bore undecided Size 8 is the ring reference, not the tube bore. Order only after measuring the prepared blank tip and approving adhesive clearance.
MH reel seat DPSM18BC ×1 Confirm actual supplier part code, 124 length and 18 nominal bore.
H reel seat DPSM20BC ×1 Confirm actual supplier part code, 129 length and 20 nominal bore.

The provisional train is eight guides plus a separate tip-top. A supplier reference lists PKWSG size-30 H59.6/L76.6, size-20 H28.6/L50.2, size-12 H17.4/L33.4, size-10 H14.6/L29.2 and size-8 H12.3/L25.2. These are catalog references, not verified sample measurements; sources may describe different revisions. Do not machine grip parts or freeze wraps from illustrations.

Initial guide-center trial positions measured from the tip, excluding the tip-top, are 120, 270, 450, 660, 900, 1180, 1500 and 1840. Match these respectively to 8, 8, 8, 8, 10, 12, 20 and 30. The stripper therefore starts near x1060. These positions are a layout starting point only. Tape-fit the actual guides and selected reel, verify knot passage and line clearance under deflection, and revise spacing without placing a foot or wrap across the joint engagement zone. Record a separate approved layout for MH and H.

Check the longest intended leader connection through every ring; do not grind ceramic rings to gain clearance. Deburr and prepare feet without changing their designed structure. Wrap lengths, thread tension, epoxy build, cure conditions and final corrosion-care instructions require sample approval. Stainless frames are not a rust-proof claim. No Fuji endorsement or proven component fit is implied by this candidate list.

PANTONE Solid Coated references specify visual direction only. They are not paint recipes, anodizing specifications, EVA pigment formulas or screen-accurate standards. Approve three independent sample families: actual coated blank coupons with a provisional matte target of 10–20 gloss units at 60 degrees; actual metal/hood/trim samples with their final finish; and actual EVA samples at the proposed hardness and surface texture. Match under controlled daylight and warm indoor light against a current physical reference. Do not paint functional guide rings, hood threads or mating tapers. Do not recolor genuine supplier components without written finish approval.

Record the approved master sample, coating thickness, cure, adhesion, UV/weathering and salt-exposure evaluation methods before production. EVA, paint and metal may not visually match from the same color code; approve them together as an assembly rather than accepting screen images.

Guarded minimum pulling-force development requirement

Untested MH 60 N and H 80 N guarded proof-load development requirements, not safe working loads. Illustrative proportions and leaders only; use the written datum schedule, not image scaling, for engineering review.

Untested engineering requirement: MH minimum target 60 N; H minimum target 80 N. These values are proposed line-tension proof-load thresholds for sample development only. They are not measured breaking strengths, safe fishing drag, fish-weight limits, casting limits, lifting capacities or guaranteed performance. Do not print them as an approved strength rating.

Before testing, the responsible engineer must approve fixture drawings, restraint reactions, load-cell calibration, line routing and the blank's predicted strain. Use a fully assembled, cured rod at 23 ±2°C, with padded handle support/restraint datums initially proposed at x150 and x450. The latter is a reel-seat fixture location, not permission to crush or clamp bare carbon. Confirm the rear restraint safely controls lift and rotation without introducing an unintended local bending point.

Start with the unloaded rod axis horizontal. Route a verified suitable test line through every guide and the tip-top; do not tie a load to the bare tip. The terminal loading-line segment acts downward at 90 degrees to the unloaded rod axis. Record the line's rear anchorage, all anchor coordinates, actuator position, support contact lengths and the changing terminal angle through deflection. Fixture geometry determines the actual bending moment, so a force number alone is not a transferable rod rating.

Behind a protective shield and using remote loading, ramp at a target 5 N/s to the applicable threshold, hold 10 seconds, unload and rest 60 seconds. Repeat for three cycles only after the previous inspection passes. Test at least three independently built specimens per power as a preliminary engineering screen, not statistical production qualification. Stop immediately for abnormal sound, visible cracking, tip damage, joint movement, guide/seat displacement or a load-displacement anomaly. Never use a person, a fish or a high-stick lift as the test fixture.

Acceptance requires no visible cracking or delamination, no measurable joint slip or guide/seat displacement beyond the recorded measurement resolution, and no persistent alignment/deflection shift after 10 minutes unloaded. Record before/after measurements, equipment resolution, full force-displacement data, specimen identity, cure record and photographs. Any failed sample blocks release and requires engineering review. Separate cyclic, casting-fatigue, impact, joint wear, corrosion and complete-outfit field trials remain necessary before setting user limits. A higher static proof target does not establish better fishing performance.

Release checklist and care direction

Keep this product in Draft until both power samples meet approved dimensional, casting, joint, component-retention and guarded-load plans; supplier components are authenticated; actual mass and transport dimensions are measured; retail prices and landed margin are confirmed; and final customer specifications and care instructions are approved. The selectable variants are development configurations, not available inventory.

Planned care guidance is to remove surface salt with gentle fresh water and dry fully before bagging, inspect guide rings and joint surfaces, separate clean dry sections for transport and use a suitable landing net instead of lifting fish with the rod. Do not high-stick, cast a snag free or treat a joint fit reserve as a defect to force closed. Final instructions must follow the validated production sample.
