GOOFISH® RILLSPARK Two-Piece Creek BFS Casting Rod

The GOOFISH RILLSPARK is a short, two-piece BFS casting rod for freshwater creek trout and light panfish lure fishing. A compact trigger grip, natural cork rear handle and Pink Riffle finish give the series a distinct role alongside longer spinning rods. Choose 502UL for tight approaches with lighter complete rigs, or 562L for slightly more reach and a higher payload window in more open water.

Specification status: New rod dimensions, ratings, mass and balance are design targets awaiting physical sample validation. FUJI references identify researched component candidates, not approved installed components. Images are design renders, not product photographs or production drawings. No casting-distance, minimum castable weight, strength or sensitivity performance has been measured.

Choose your creek setup

The model names use a nominal length family followed by section count and Power: 50 / 56, two pieces, then UL or L. Metric dimensions above control; the names are not exact imperial conversions. Each model includes one matched butt and one matched tip, not interchangeable UL/L tips. Reel, line, lure and case are not included.

Power describes intended relative bending resistance. UL is the lighter blank target; L is a separately developed blank for a higher payload window. Action describes where the blank bends under a defined load. Moderate-Fast is a progressive bend-distribution target for small moving lures, not a measured recovery speed or a guarantee of landing fish.

Match the rod to the water

502UL prioritizes short, controlled presentations with small minnows, spoons and spinners in sheltered creeks where casting room is limited but safe. It is aimed at trout anglers who already understand light-line casting reels. 562L adds 150 mm of reach and a 3–9 g payload target for small rivers, creek pools and accessible pond margins. Trout and panfish such as bluegill are target uses, not a statement of fish-lifting capacity.

A short rod does not eliminate branch clearance or wading risk. Use a stable bank or an established safe shallow-water position. Neither model is intended for heavy cover extraction, large migratory trout or salmon in strong current, high banks requiring fish hoisting, shore metal jigging, saltwater eging, trolling or offshore fishing. Two pieces improve car transport but do not provide the compact pack length of a four- or five-piece travel rod.

BFS reel pairing matters

Use a suitable low-inertia, shallow-spool baitcasting reel, not a conventional heavy-spool reel selected only by a size label. Low-profile sizes are not standardized across brands. Verify actual reel-foot engagement, hood travel, trigger clearance, palming comfort, line capacity, line escape at the spool/frame gap and the manufacturer's minimum line advice. No specific existing store reel is declared compatible without testing.

Weigh the complete lure or rig, including hooks, rings, clips, sinkers and other additions. Work within the selected payload target after sample approval; a light lure with high water resistance may still be inappropriate in fast current. PE is a size reference, not tensile strength. Do not infer drag or rod load from PE, Power, fish weight or lure weight. The 2 g lower target is not a promise that every user or reel can cast 2 g. Start with controlled short casts, conservative reel brakes and an appropriate line setup.

Grip, materials and balance

The shared handle layout uses the butt end face as x=0 in millimetres toward the tip: polymer cap x0–12; natural cork rear grip x12–112, 100 mm long; trim x112–114; FUJI TCSM16 candidate seat body envelope x114–228, 114 mm long; short dark EVA foregrip x228–248, 20 mm long; trim x248–250. The cork rear grip is continuous, not split. Rear grip OD targets are 23 mm for UL and 24 mm for L; foregrip maximum OD 21/22 mm; cap OD 24/25 mm. Lock nut and foregrip interfaces require drawings, real parts and trial fit, not a presumed finished seat envelope.

Measure mass on a dry, complete assembled rod with all guides, tip-top, wraps, grip and cap installed, without a reel, line or lure. Measure balance horizontally using the specified test reel without line or lure, and record its actual reel-foot midpoint. The seat body midpoint is not automatically the reel-foot midpoint. Bare-rod balance remains unassigned.

The material direction is a tubular carbon-fibre blank with local joint and seat reinforcement. Carbon brand, grade, fibre angles, layup, wall transitions, resin and cure cycle are not yet approved. Visible carbon texture does not verify a named fibre or modulus. Cork grade and filling limit, EVA density, arbors and adhesive system require supplier samples; no AAA cork or named carbon claim is made.

Researched FUJI component candidates

The initial layout has eight guides plus one tip-top for 502UL and nine plus one for 562L, with guides above the blank and trigger below. These are design starting counts, not approved static layouts. Both models may share guide families and seat but require separate spacing and fit approval. Ring sizes are catalog designations, not usable clear bores. Test the actual leader knot, guide clearance and casting line path using actual reels. No spiral-wrap option is specified.

Engineer the 15 mm seat-bore interface with compatible rigid arbors and controlled adhesive layers based on measured blank OD; do not fill the whole annulus with unsupported adhesive or sand structural walls to force fit. Tip-top selection uses finished tip OD, coating thickness, bore availability, insertion length and ring-plane alignment. A 1.4 mm tube example is catalog data only, not an assigned rod-tip diameter.

Pink Riffle styling

Vivid hot pink lower blank, cyan fine trim, natural cork, dark graphite hardware and a carbon-look upper section define Pink Riffle. It is one coordinated finish, not a separate color option for every specification. The physical GOOFISH wordmark must use the approved connected-double-O original artwork, proportionally scaled, never retyped or stretched. The available raster is a reference; a production vector master still needs approval.

Handling and validation

No working-load, drag, proof-load or destructive-load number is assigned before engineer-approved testing. Working rod load is the service-load envelope at a defined line path and angle; drag is calibrated line payout tension; line breaking strength is tested separately; destructive load characterizes dedicated sacrificial samples and is never a fishing recommendation.

Before release, approve bend curves and Power/Action, controlled casting throughout the payload windows, joint fit and cycling, blank wall transitions, static guide layout, reel-foot and arbor fit, wet grip comfort, complete mass/balance, coating durability and transport clearance. Use a controlled fixture and separate test limits for each model. Stop for cracks, delamination, joint movement, ring damage or loose guides/seat. Numerical acceptance limits and sample counts must be approved before testing.

Use a landing net; do not lift fish or pull snags with the rod. Avoid high-sticking, impact and grit in the joint. Seat the clean joint securely without forcing shoulders flush, check alignment and fit during use, dry completely before storage, and protect the tip and guides in transport.
