Annotated complete-rod and section concepts
These photographic-style design illustrations add English specification labels to the existing engineering brief. They are not stock photographs, scale drawings or verified FUJI component photographs. Guide positions and drawn section proportions are illustrative; the written candidate bill of materials and approved supplier drawings govern.

The GOOFISH® Reefledger 702 is a proposed 2.13 m, two-piece bottom fishing casting rod for controlled lowering and working of weighted bait rigs from an inshore boat. Choose the 702M design target for a 40–120 g complete suspended rig or the separately developed 702MH target for 80–180 g. Both target Fast action in a trigger-seat, straight-top-guide conventional layout, with Ocean Champagne or Pearl Midnight finishes.
Development-stage disclosure: This listing is a product design brief awaiting engineering review and samples, not manufactured stock with verified specifications. Every rod rating, dimension, construction choice and test threshold below is a proposed requirement. Generated images are appearance concepts and schematics, not stock photographs, exact FUJI part drawings or approved manufacturing drawings. Do not present a proposed static proof target as an achieved strength, maximum drag, fish weight or lifting capacity.
Reefledger: bottom contact, not another slow-pitch label
Reefledger refers to reading bottom contact and changes in rig tension. The 702 family identifies approximately seven feet and two sections; the controlling metric length is 2130 mm. The concept combines a responsive upper section for controlled rig work with progressive middle and butt support. It is not a heavy wreck-extraction, heavy offshore jigging, trolling or shore-casting rod.
The purpose is to evaluate weighted bait rigs and controlled bottom contact independently from a slow-pitch jig's action. Bottom conditions, boat motion and line angle can mimic bites. No rod is guaranteed to distinguish a fish bite from bottom contact or boat movement.

The M and MH require separate layups and validation, not two labels on an identical blank. Color does not change the specification. Suspended-rig mass includes the sinker or jighead, bait, hooks, swivels and attached tackle. It is not sinker-only weight, an overhead casting range, a vertical metal-jig action rating or a fixed depth recommendation. Do not cast an 180 g rig simply because it is within the MH lowering target. Casting and pitching limits remain unassigned until separately tested.
PE is a line-sizing class, not a guaranteed pound-test or direct rod-strength conversion. Current, line diameter, drag, boat movement and snagging alter the load independently of the hanging rig's mass.
Action, Power, bending profile and recovery
Power describes resistance to deflection; Action describes where bending develops under a defined loading and support method. The intended Fast response starts in the upper part under small loads, with progressive middle and butt engagement as loading rises. Fast does not mean rigid throughout the rod or immunity to tip overload.
Do not publish an exact 7:3 bending ratio without a defined test. Compare the M and MH under identical documented procedures and agreed reference samples. The joint must not introduce a sharp hinge or a long locked transition. Record load-deflection curves separately from recovery and damping; an Action label does not establish a measured recovery rate.
Use a supplier-developed carbon-composite blank with reinforcement designed around the casting-seat load path and central joint. Carbon modulus, resin, wall schedule and structural diameters require engineering. No established Solid Nano, fixed carbon tonnage, nanomaterial percentage or tested sensitivity gain is claimed for Reefledger.
Minimum pulling-force requirements: proposed internal proof gates
The requested minimum pull is specified here as a controlled line-tension proof test, not a tensile test of carbon fibers and not a breaking-strength test. Proposed gates are 25 N for 702M and 35 N for 702MH. Using standard gravity only for unit conversion, these are approximately 2.55 kgf and 3.57 kgf. Kilogram-force is force, not fish mass. These values are chosen development targets for this concept, not externally certified standards or measured results.
An engineer must review the rod design, hazard controls and fixture drawing before approving any run. Do not suspend household weights or load the tip by hand. Use guarded laboratory equipment, a calibrated load cell and remote controlled loading; keep people outside the stored-energy and line-failure path.
- Fixture and supports: Test the complete assembled rod with its approved joint engagement, genuine components, cured wraps and a representative reel-foot fixture. Define the butt-end as x=0 and the unloaded butt axis pointing toward the tip as +X. Proposed rear support center is x=100 mm; proposed front support reference is the seat-body midpoint, x=340 mm for M or x=360 mm for MH. Use an engineer-approved padded saddle and representative reel-foot/hand-load fixture, not a hard point clamp on bare carbon, the seat window or trigger. Fixture compliance and all support dimensions must be documented in the approved drawing.
- Load path and direction: Run suitable test line from the locked reel-foot fixture through every guide and tip-top. Measure tension in the outgoing line with the load cell. Maintain the line-force vector at 45 degrees downward from the original +X butt-axis direction in the guide plane. This is a force-direction definition, not the angle of a bent tip tangent. A movable actuator or direction-controlled fixture is needed as the tip deflects. Do not substitute an unspecified rod angle to the floor.
- Loading: After controlled seating and a 2 N preload, ramp smoothly at a proposed 5 N per second to 25 N for M or 35 N for MH. Hold for 10 seconds, unload gradually and rest for 60 seconds. Repeat for three cycles. No snatch loading, bouncing or hanging-fish demonstration is equivalent.
- Provisional acceptance: No fracture, delamination, cracking sound, insert damage, guide-foot movement, wrap cracking, seat slip or joint loosening. Mark the seated joint before testing; proposed cumulative axial movement limit is 0.5 mm. After 10 minutes unloaded recovery, proposed residual tip displacement limit is 3 mm relative to the same-fixture pretest baseline. These are provisional engineering thresholds to approve or revise before testing, not established industry pass criteria.
- Records and stop conditions: Record actual force-time history, force direction, support geometry, joint engagement, line/reel fixture, deflection, guide contact and before/after condition. Stop and quarantine a sample at a damage signal, unexpected local hinge or uncontrolled twist. Never continue simply to reach the target number.
- Sampling and release: Proposed development screening is at least three independently built samples of each taper; all must pass the approved method. This is a first-article screen, not a statistically validated production sampling plan. Establish the final acceptance plan, durability tests and customer working limits separately.
The rod must also undergo controlled torsion/line-clearance assessment, repeated rig-working trials, joint assembly endurance and representative wet/dry saltwater-use evaluation with defined methods. No safety factor or working drag may be calculated automatically from the 25/35 N proof targets. A proof gate is not ultimate strength, fatigue life or impact strength. These are only Reefledger M/MH targets; no rating has been assigned to other GOOFISH rods by analogy.
FUJI candidate component bill of materials
Model families and seat dimensions below are supported by the Anglers Resource FUJI catalog references. Exact supplied codes, availability and genuine sourcing must be confirmed. Catalog identity does not prove compatibility with this blank.
| Part | Initial sample candidate | Engineering checks |
|---|---|---|
| Three lower casting guides | FUJI PKWSG-S polished stainless / Slim SiC, nominal 12, 10 and 8, one each | Low casting train, all above the blank in this straight-guide configuration. Resolve levelwind height, reel exit and line path on real hardware. |
| Two belly support guides | FUJI PKWSG-S, nominal size 8 ×2 | Locate against the actual static bend and joint exclusion area, not a picture. |
| Four upper runners | FUJI PKTSG-S polished stainless / Slim SiC, nominal size 8 ×4 | Check clearance through the complete load envelope and actual leader-knot passage. |
| Tip-top | FUJI PMNST polished SiC, nominal ring size 8 | Tube bore unassigned until the finished tip is measured; verify an actually available combination. |
| M casting seat | FUJI ECSM12BC, size-16 family, nominal bore 12.0 mm | Catalog OD entry 18/27 mm and body length 110.5 mm. The two OD figures describe a shaped seat, not a single cylindrical blank OD. Match the actual seat-region blank and exposed-contact profile. |
| MH casting seat | FUJI ECSM125BC, size-16 family, nominal bore 12.5 mm | Catalog OD entry 18/27 mm and body length 110.5 mm. Confirm actual blank fit independently from the M model. |
The initial proposal is nine guides plus one tip-top. Final count, size, position and height may change after load-path trials. Nominal ring size is not clear inside diameter. A size-16 seat family does not mean a 16 mm bore. Confirm exact current size/hood ordering codes with the supplier.
ECSM is an exposed-blank trigger casting-seat family, not the plain DPSM spinning pipe seat used on recent GOOFISH concepts. The 12.0/12.5 mm bores are procurement candidates, not measured blank diameters. Do not ream, grind or thin structural fibers to force the chosen seat, and do not assume a generic arbor will preserve the intended exposed-blank fit. If the measured seat-region taper does not match, select a suitable genuine catalog bore and revalidate the full handle.
FUJI references
- ECSM casting reel-seat catalog
- KW casting and belly guides
- KT upper runners
- PMNST tip-top catalog
- Guide-positioning reference
Guide-positioning static loading and the proposed through-guide proof test are different procedures with different purposes. Follow the builder's controlled positioning method for guide layout; do not confuse its separate tip-loading method or bend reference with the 25/35 N finished-assembly proof procedure above.
Eight-component design requirements
01 Tip and tip-top

Engineer separate tip diameters and upper layups for M and MH, then choose the real PMNST tube bore. Do not assign a tip diameter from a render. Check ring edges, tube engagement, adhesive system, alignment and tang-wrap installation. The tip should work the target lowered rig without an abrupt local collapse, but that behavior requires sample trials.
02 Guide train and wraps
Test the actual reel, levelwind, line, leader knot and complete assembled blank. Straight-top casting guides can allow line contact or torsional instability under load if placed poorly. Require no damaging line rub or unacceptable local line angle in the approved operating envelope; do not pass a layout because it appears evenly spaced. Confirm blank stability and hand torque separately. A spiral wrap would be a different validated configuration, not a silent substitute.
Keep feet, wraps and finish clear of the joint engagement and avoid thick cosmetic epoxy sleeves. Prepare feet without sharp stress risers. Record approved guide-center stations in the build drawing only after layout trials. The schematic's drawn guide count and spacing are illustrative.
03 Blank taper and wall schedule

Target 2130 mm assembled length, upper-section-led Fast response and smooth recruitment of the middle and butt. Avoid abrupt wall, stiffness and reinforcement changes at the joint or seat ends. Develop carbon layup, resin process, fiber alignment, cure and wall controls through supplier engineering. Inspect for voids, crushing damage and uneven wall distribution. Numerical structural diameters and layup tolerances remain pending the approved engineering drawing.
04 Central put-over joint
Use an upper-over-lower put-over candidate, not a generic spigot. Approve overlap, seating, fit, reinforcement and tolerances separately for each taper. Do not require zero visible gap merely because a render looks flush. Resolve cut lengths and actual engagement together to evaluate the no-more-than-1130 mm longest-section goal; do not publish 2130÷2 as packed length.
Apply a fine alignment tick and separate section identifiers. Validate repeated assembly, loosening under rig work, smooth bend continuity and removal after normal wet/dry use. No guide foot or decorative wrap may obstruct the mating surface. Joint movement thresholds in proof testing need a documented seated baseline.
05 Foregrip

Initial targets are 40 mm axial length, maximum OD 25 mm for M and26 mm for MH. Contour against the actual hood and blank while preserving nut access. Evaluate finger clearance and wet handling with the chosen reel. Do not turn the foregrip into a lifting handle or encourage high-sticking.
06 Casting seat, trigger and reel-foot interface
Use the ECSM12BC or ECSM125BC candidate only after confirming the complete seat-region fit. Start with seat-body-midpoint-to-butt datums of 340 mm for M and 360 mm for MH, using the 110.5 mm catalog body length in the full dimensional chain. These are seat-body reference points, not a guaranteed reel-foot-center measurement.
Check trigger clearance, actual reel-foot length and curvature, locking travel, full-foot support and final hand position. Avoid localized adhesive stress or a void adjacent to the exposed-blank contact. Do not machine or paint the genuine trigger/threads, and do not treat the trigger as a load-test clamp. Generic baitcaster size names do not establish compatibility. Large stand-up conventional reels may not fit this light casting seat.
07 Rear EVA and split-grip region

Rear EVA targets are 240 ×26 mm length/maximum OD for M and 260 ×27 mm for MH. Approve a subtle low-sheen grip texture rather than deep cosmetic cuts. Determine the exposed gap from the complete seat, grip, trim and cap stack, accounting for overlapping parts. Do not add nominal lengths as if every part were end-to-end.
Evaluate controlled lowering, retrieve posture, rod-holder interaction and palm comfort with a representative reel. A short casting-style butt is not a heavy fighting-gimbal system. Set EVA density, firmness, recovery and bonding from actual samples, not a visual rendering.
08 Butt cap and trim
Cap targets are 28 ×18 mm maximum OD/axial length for M and 29 ×18 mm for MH. Use a rounded charcoal cap with a small recessed contour emblem, no sharp metal lip and no large decorative badge. Keep ornamental trim near a proposed maximum 2 mm visible axial width, subject to assembly fit. Validate cap retention and edge safety. No waterproof seal or lifting function is claimed.
GOOFISH bathymetric-contour identity
Use a restrained GOOFISH wordmark, a secondary Reefledger 702M or 702MH identifier and one interrupted depth-contour motif on the lower blank. Keep the upper blank quiet; guide wraps receive a very fine contrasting border. The small bathymetric motif suggests reading structure without printing a busy full-length map. Separate assembly ticks from the decorative artwork.
This is a model-specific visual direction, not a researched claim that no other brand uses similar colors or contours. Production typography and linework must come from approved GOOFISH vector artwork, not generated lettering.

2965 C,7501 C and Cool Gray 1 C are Solid Coated graphics references. 871 C and 877 C are Metallics Coated references. They are not formulas for rod paint, anodizing, plating or foam. Pearl Midnight is a finish name, not a pearlescent-material claim. Concept images are not PANTONE-certified matches.
Matte coating approval
Approve the cured coating on actual blank material with the intended primer, clearcoat and surface texture. Compare physical color and sheen under agreed light sources, then compare finished wraps with resin applied. Check white-coating coverage and discoloration, dark-blue visibility, adhesion, rubbing and flex behavior. Agree process-specific acceptance limits only after physical masters are established.
Metallic trim approval
Sample real satin-gold and satin-silver parts. Do not replace the champagne direction with bright yellow mirror gold. Printed metallic standards, plated or anodized parts and actual trim can differ by angle. Approve edge quality, retention and finish durability through a defined supplier method. Large metal sleeves are not intended and must not create a stiffness transition or cover a joint.
EVA approval
Keep charcoal EVA in both palettes. Approve density, firmness, compression recovery, surface feel and bonded interfaces using shaped samples and wet/dry handling. Foam does not reproduce coated-paper gloss. Retain physical material and assembled-handle masters. No tested slip-resistance or durability result is claimed.
Species, methods and environments
The M is a candidate for appropriately sized fluke/flounder, scup/porgy and sea bass using lighter complete rigs. The MH addresses a heavier rig requirement for similar inshore bottom fishing and appropriately sized small snapper where structure and landing access allow. Fish names do not establish safe drag or fish-weight capacity. Neither model is intended for heavy grouper extraction, large amberjack, large tuna or lifting a catch onto a high deck.
Proposed methods are controlled lowering, measured slack management, gentle bottom lifts and retrieves appropriate to the bait rig and hook. Choose lift and hook-setting behavior for the actual rig; circle-hook presentations should not be treated like an aggressive jig-hook strike. Do not overload the blank to free a snag or use the rod to lift a sinker caught on structure.
Candidate settings are sheltered inshore boat drifts or anchored bottom-fishing positions with a clear rod path and suitable landing equipment. No fixed depth, current speed or wave limit is assigned. Heavy current and boat movement can demand a different setup even with the same rig mass. Keep lines clear of the hull and propeller, avoid high-sticking and land fish with appropriate equipment.
Practical selection guide
- Weigh the entire lowered rig, including sinker, bait and hardware. Compare it with the M 40–120 g or MH 80–180 g target after sample approval; do not use sinker mass alone.
- Do not interpret that range as a casting rating. Separate casting trials and an approved range are required before making casting claims.
- Check actual line diameter, leader knot, reel-foot fit, capacity and outfit balance. PE class and a generic reel-size number are not compatibility guarantees.
- Choose M or MH by the tested complete-rig handling and environment, not by fish name or the larger proof-target number.
- Check actual packed length and handle reach. The 1130 mm goal and 340/360 mm seat datums remain unmeasured.
- Choose Ocean Champagne or Pearl Midnight. Color is cosmetic, and the untested proof targets are not buyer drag-setting instructions.
Included equipment, care and production release
Proposed contents: one two-section rod in the selected taper and finish, with a simple separated-section fabric sock after fit approval. Reel, line, bait, sinkers, terminal tackle, landing equipment and hard transport case are not included.
Rinse gently after saltwater use, check rings and wraps, clean joint surfaces and dry sections before storage. Follow the approved joint engagement method, recheck seating during fishing and protect the tip in transport. Never test strength by hand-bending or lifting fish with the rod.
Before customer sale, release approved supplier drawings and BOM, measure assembled/packed lengths, mass, balance, structural diameters and handle datums, and record final guide positions. Review the entire proof protocol before testing. Validate rig handling, joint stability, line clearance, seat fit, durability and finish sampling separately for both tapers. Final customer working drag and casting range remain unassigned until evidence supports them. Cost quotations, production quality controls and actual shipping mass/dimensions also need approval.
