Custom Fishing Rod Ideas: Help Shape a Future GOOFISH Rod

What would you change about your next fishing rod? Perhaps a different packed length, a more suitable grip, a specific jig range or a colour you would enjoy using. Tell GOOFISH the fishing problem you want a future rod to solve.

This page invites community ideas for possible new rod development. If an idea gains broad support, GOOFISH may consider developing it and inviting the contributor to help refine the concept. Interest does not guarantee selection, production or a launch date.

Custom fishing rod ideas, not a confirmed custom order

Here, “custom” means sharing a design idea. This page does not confirm a paid one-off build service, available modifications to every existing model, a minimum order quantity, an OEM arrangement, pricing or delivery times.

Keep proposed features separate from confirmed specifications. A requested component, colour or logo is a suggestion, not proof that it can be supplied.

Start with how you fish

A useful proposal explains the method before the material. Identify boat jigging, freshwater lure fishing, surface-lure popping or another specific application. Include the type of reel you intend to use and the practical problem with your current setup.

A fish name alone cannot define the rod. The same target can involve different methods, lure loads, working space and handling requirements.

Write a clear rod-design brief

Details to include in a future fishing rod proposal
Detail What to describe
Method and use case How and where you intend to use the rod
Configuration Spinning or compatible overhead layout and intended reel
Length and transport Preferred overall length, section arrangement and packed-space needs
Lure or jig range The weights and presentations you want considered
Power and action Your desired feel, keeping these separate from weight guidance
Grip and fittings Grip shape, material preferences and practical control-access needs
Appearance Colour and finish preferences, without implying availability
Priorities What matters most and which trade-offs you would accept

Separate must-have requirements from nice-to-have features. For example, a packed-length limit may matter more than a preferred accent colour. Explain the reason rather than requesting every feature at its maximum.

From Idea to Review photo-style folding cards labelled Use Case, Specifications and Feedback, with generic rod detail, colour samples, case image and blank proposal sheet.
Both images are AI-generated photo-style planning concepts. They are not actual prototypes, factory photographs, offered component lists, a submission system or evidence that a custom order has been accepted.

Use existing GOOFISH rods as references

A current model can help explain what you like or want changed. It does not establish that its parts can be modified or transferred to a new build.

Boat-jigging reference

The Ocean Assassin lists approximately 193cm, one-piece construction, MH/Fast, PE3–6 and a recommended 200–650g jig range. Use its actual configuration as a reference rather than treating a test label as usable drag or a fish-size limit.

Bass lure-fishing reference

The BassMaster lists 195cm, one-piece MH construction, a 10–30g lure range and 10–20lb line guidance. Identify which configuration and practical feature you are comparing, rather than inferring extra options from the URL.

Popping reference

The Purple Diamond lists 280cm, two-piece spinning construction, MH/MF, a 40–100g lure range and 15–50lb line guidance. Its popping application should not be merged with a boat-jigging specification.

Trout lure-fishing reference

The 2.1m two-tip trout rod is a two-piece freshwater spinning model with two L-power tips and a 1/16–3/8oz lure range. Do not assume the two tips represent different powers or transfer details from another trout model.

Copy this fishing rod idea template

My use case: I fish [method] in [general conditions] and want to solve [specific problem].

Preferred configuration: [spinning / overhead], with [intended reel and control needs].

Length and transport: [overall-length preference], [section preference], [packed-space limit].

Working range: [lure or jig weights and intended presentation].

Grip and appearance: [shape or material preference], [colour preference].

Existing reference: [model and feature I like], with [change I would propose].

My priority: [most important requirement], and I could compromise on [less important feature].

Use this brief when sharing your proposal with GOOFISH. Describe desired specifications as requests, not validated operating limits.

Common questions about community rod ideas

Will every idea become a product?

No. Broad community interest may support consideration, but development and production are not guaranteed.

Can I order a single custom rod through this article?

This article is an idea invitation, not confirmation of a one-off order service.

Can I request a new colour or grip?

Yes, as a design suggestion. Availability and feasibility are not established by the request.

Does using an existing model as a reference approve modifications?

No. Reference specifications and confirmed modification options are different things.

Tell us the problem your next rod should solve

Start with one clear sentence: “I want a rod for [method] that solves [problem].” Then add the details that matter. A focused idea gives the community something meaningful to discuss and helps explain what a future GOOFISH rod could offer.

I love these rods! These are the only rods that I jig with now! I jig off both a kayak and a boat and I have to say that the feel is absolutely amazing! I also have the purple diamond light popping rod and that also has a great feel. I use this rod for both popping and for catching live bait! I want to get the whole collection one day!

First and foremost I would like to say I own six of your goofish rods and I only fish with them now. My question is I joined a fishing club. I have a fishing name and it is Patrick Star like in the one from bikini bottom. I was wondering if you can make a rod about 6’8"your goofish ones with the colors of Patrick starfish
