GOOFISH® YB Series Saltwater Spinning Reels
The YB Series combines a CNC-machined aluminum body and side plates with a 5.9:1 gear ratio, 12+1 bearing configuration and carbon fiber drag. Choose YB50, YB60, YB70 or YB80 by the listed line capacity, then select Black, Gray or Golden to complete your saltwater setup.
From preparing line before a trip to wiping away salt at the end of the day, a well-matched reel starts with practical details: suitable capacity, secure fittings and a drag setting appropriate to your line and rod.
Construction, gearing and drag
- CNC-machined aluminum body and side plates: anodized exterior finish with the angular body design shown in the product photographs.
- Stainless steel main shaft: paired with the listed stainless steel small gear and aluminum-bronze main gear.
- Carbon fiber drag: the drag system controls resistance when line is pulled from the spool; the gear materials are separate drivetrain components.
- 5.9:1 gear ratio: describes gearing, not a fixed length of line retrieved per handle turn.
- 12+1 bearing configuration: retained as the listed bearing specification, not a casting-distance guarantee.
- Metal handle and rounded metal grip: visible on the photographed Black and Gray reels.

Maximum drag is a specification, not an everyday drag setting or a fish-lifting rating. Set resistance to suit the complete line, leader, knot and rod combination. Never lift a fish using the reel alone.

These are reference capacities, not guaranteed fill amounts for every line brand. Actual capacity depends on line diameter and packing. Do not substitute a PE number or breaking-strength label for the stated diameter, and avoid overfilling the spool.
Choose your size and color
Compare the individual capacity rows with the line you intend to use rather than choosing by color or model number alone. Each listed size is available in Black, Gray and Golden, giving twelve size-and-color combinations. Check the full selection before ordering and match the reel to a compatible spinning rod.
Before your first cast
- Secure the reel in a compatible reel seat and check the handle and visible fittings.
- Thread the line through the rod guides and confirm it runs correctly through the bail and line roller.
- Load line under controlled tension without overfilling. Check line lay and remove loose loops.
- Test the drag gently with the outfit pointed safely away from people, then adjust for your line and rod.
Everyday troubleshooting
- Loose loops or line twist: stop winding, check the line lay and twist, and correct loose line before continuing. Avoid overfilling.
- Line misses the roller: stop and check that the line sits in the line roller before retrieving.
- Unexpected line release: check the drag, knots and spool attachment. Test gently before fishing.
- Rough winding or new noise: remove load and check for debris or tangled line. Stop using the reel and seek service if symptoms persist.
Keep fingers clear of moving parts. Do not force the handle, tighten drag simply to overcome a mechanical problem, or open the reel without the appropriate instructions.
Saltwater care and storage
After fishing, remove surface salt with a fresh-water-damp cloth and use a soft brush around accessible exterior areas. Avoid pressure jets, immersion and spraying oil into bearings or drag parts. Allow the reel to air-dry in shade before placing it in dry storage; do not seal it away while damp.
Inspect the line, bail, roller, handle and visible fittings before the next trip. Follow the supplied manual for lubrication and servicing rather than applying an unspecified oil or grease internally. Saltwater-oriented construction does not replace routine cleaning and maintenance.
